So, today is officially my first day as a blogger. Wicked cool, right? (Yes, I say “wicked,” I’m from Massachusetts, it’s a thing). As someone who is new to the world of blogging, it only makes sense for me to explain why I chose to begin this new journey. Speaking of journeys, let me start with the name of this blog: The Journey of Sara Joelle. As a rising senior in college, I have been on many different journeys in my life, and there are even more scary (but exciting!) new journeys ahead of me. Starting this blog is one of them. While sitting on the floor of my bedroom, surfing the Internet and trying to figure out what to do with my life during this particularly boring summer, it hit me. I was absentmindedly scrolling through the blogs I follow, then I thought, why don’t I make my own? At first, I thought it was a stupid idea. No one wants to hear about my life, right? I mean, what could be so interesting about what I’m doing that would make other people want to read about it? But then, I realized that this journey would be more for me, and even if no one at all looked at my blog, that would be okay. I ran the idea by my roommate and best friend, Brittany, and she told me that she would support me in this new endeavor as long as I wrote about her at least once (does that sentence count, Britt?). I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t uneasy about it, because I do have reservations about making my thoughts so public. I’m also concerned about how difficult it will be. However, if you were to ask any of my friends how I respond to someone who is complaining, every single one of them would tell you that my one piece of advice for them would be to “get a diary.” So, with that, I decided to take my own advice, start my own online diary, and begin this journey.
